The University of Connecticut Foundation greets the news of President Hogan’s departure with a mixture of sadness and resolve. Many of us who have gotten to know Mike during the past three years have been impressed by his strong advocacy for our mission, his visionary stance and his talent for connecting on a real and personal level with everyone he meets. Our donors, in particular, welcomed his genuine warmth and his clear expression of the impact their generosity is having on UConn’s goal to be recognized as a premier public research university. In the wake of his departure, we are nonetheless certain that our focus and efforts will remain as strong as ever. The current campaign will continue without interruption, and we look forward to working with the interim University leadership to ensure that private fundraising at the University continues to be a source of strength for the institution. The opportunity for President Hogan to return to the Midwest and one of the largest universities in the Big Ten was simply one he could not pass up, and we offer our congratulations and best wishes to him and Virginia on their new future.
