From the June 2009 issue of e-Momentum.
Thanks to a record number of donors and a new program, $30,000 was raised through the 2009 senior class gift.
The UConn Foundation introduced two changes this year to great success. For the first time, rather than raise funds for one project, students were invited to support the fund of their choice. Seniors selected from among thousands of existing funds that support colleges, schools, academic departments, scholarships, study abroad, environmental initiatives and more. A record number of students took this opportunity to give back while supporting the areas they’re most passionate about.
The Foundation also created a book to commemorate graduation. The book, titled Say Goodbye to a Senior, was a way for families to congratulate seniors with personal messages while also supporting UConn. Parents, grandparents, student organizations as well as a number of administrative offices and academic programs participated. The book was so successful that the foundation plans to offer it again next year.
In total, more than 1,000 donors contributed toward the senior class gift this year.
