For the past 25 years, Avon High School students have been raising support for the Children's Cancer Activity Fund at the UConn Health Center through an organization called Kids for Kids. Roxie Kubis, 12, lit the Kids for Kids Candle of Hope at a ceremony to mark the occasion at Riverdale Farms in Avon on December 3, 2010. Kubis, of West Hartford, is nearing the end of treatment for non-Hodgkin Burkitts lymphoma. This year, the Avon students raised $4,600.
